Sales Report

Learn how to use the Sales Report to see what's selling, compare vendors and departments, and identify where your next buying dollars will have the most impact.

The Sales Report helps you understand what's selling, who's selling it, and which products, departments, and vendors are driving your business.

Because the report can be filtered and grouped, you can use it to answer a wide range of sales questions.

What Can I Use the Sales Report For?

Use this report to:

  • See how your business is performing over a specific period.
  • Identify your best-selling products.
  • Compare sales by vendor.
  • Compare departments or categories.
  • Review employee performance.
  • Understand which products and vendors are earning your next reorder.

Filter Your Sales

Use the available filters to narrow your results to exactly what you want to look at.

For example, you can start by looking at all sales and then narrow the report to a specific:

  • Vendor
  • Department
  • Product
  • Employee
  • Location
  • Date range

Use Sales to Find Your Best Vendors

One of the most useful ways to use the Sales Report is to look at vendor performance within a specific department.

For example, let's say your Inventory Value Report showed that you're underbought in Dresses.

You can use the Sales Report to:

  1. Filter to the Dresses department.
  1. Group or filter by Vendor.
  1. Compare how each vendor's dresses are performing.
  1. Identify the vendors whose products are actually selling.

Now you know more than just what you need to buy. You know who deserves more of your buying budget.

You can use this same process on departments you're overbought in. If a vendor's products aren't selling, that may be a signal to stop putting additional inventory dollars toward that vendor.

Sales + Inventory Value

Sales becomes even more useful when you pair it with the Inventory Value Report.

Inventory Value tells you where your money is currently sitting.

Sales tells you what's earning that investment.

Together, they help you make smarter buying decisions.

Once you know what and who is selling, head to the Product Stock Report to decide what to reorder and what to mark down.

The Buying Workflow

Inventory Value → Sales → Product Stock

Use Sales as the middle step that turns an inventory imbalance into a specific buying decision.

Next Step: Use the Product Stock Report to find the specific products to reorder or mark down.
