Installing the βSocket Mobile Companionβ app and setting up your scanner via this app resolves many issues: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/socket-mobile-companion/id1175638950
Connect the Scanner to the iPad
- Turn off Bluetooth from general settings on the iPad
- Turn on Scanner: Hold the small button until the LED light blinks in blue, and the scanner will beep twice.
- Open the socket mobile companion app.
- Select device type on the menu
- Scan the barcode on the iPad screen to enable iOS mode. The scanner will beep when the mode-change is successful.
- Turn on the Bluetooth and look for the barcode scanner to connect.
- Your scanner should be ready to go. To test whether it works correctly or not, open the Shoptiques POS on your iPad and scan a product barcode that is already in the database.
- Scanning the product should automatically add the product to the shopping cart or will get a popup message saying "Product not found" if the product is not found.

If the above fails, try resetting your device and re-pairing it with these instructions: Go to the general settings of the iPad.
- Go to the bluetooth menu find Socket S700 device.
- Click the i in the circle next to the device, then tap on Forget This Device.
- After you have forgotten the device, turn OFF your iPad bluetooth.
- Open the Socket Mobile Companion App on your iPad. You should have it installed from when you were first set up with Shoptiques POS, however, if the app has been deleted, click HERE to download the app.
- On the Socket App click Add New Device.
- Select the Socket Scan 700 series scanner (Navy Blue Picture)
- Confirm that the bluetooth is turned off on your iPad. Then Click the Next Arrow.
- Scan the barcode on the iPad screen to enable app mode. If the barcode won't scan on the iPad, try printing out the barcode and scanning that way. Then click Next.
- If the device successfully goes in to App Mode, you should hear 3 beeps from the scanner, sounding similar to R2-D2.
- Then go back to the bluetooth menu and turn back on bluetooth.
- Once bluetooth is re-enabled, connect your scanner to bluetooth. If the scanner successfully pairs, it will move to your devices list and show a status of connected.
- You are now ready to start scanning!
